The newest dorm Thorobred Hall is facing issues with its residents and their failure to keep the building looking and smelling clean. The new building doesn’t feature a trash room like the other dorms on campus, the rooms are set up apartment style which also means like a real apartment students must take their own garbage out. Trash has been a reoccurring issue for the new dorm with students starting to leave their trash in the stair ways and elevators or just simply outside of their rooms, the Residential Director Erica Jones and her Resident Assistants have been attempting to resolve the issue but unfortunately has been making no notable progress.
The amount of trash ranging from used condoms, bags full of trash, fast food and flex bags, it’s safe to say the newest building has been through quite a lot of wear and tear. There have also been reports of people keeping dogs in the building, dogs are only allowed to be on campus unless they have gotten permission from one of the University’s mental health professionals and have gone through the proper process for the dog to be approved. Because they haven’t gotten approval the dogs have begun to give the new dorm a new distinct smell that is all but pleasant.
With the newest building being put through some damage, students have begun comparing it to the dorm most notorious for being called dirty, Old Young Hall better known as The Halls. It’s time students started treating the dorms with more respect considering that it’s a place they have to live in for months while they get an education.
