Frankfort Ky – On the morning of November 21st, Kentucky State University had to deal with a bomb threat that threw everything into chaos. At around 8:30 AM, students living in the dorms were told to leave immediately. They had to grab whatever they could, leave their rooms, and head to a safe spot. No one knew what was going on, and people were confused and worried.
The staff told students to park their cars at the Alumni Football Stadium, which was a good distance away from the dorms, just in case. The parking lot quickly filled with students, some in pajamas, some still half asleep, but everyone was doing their best to follow the orders. After parking, students were then told to get on buses, which took them over to the Exum basketball gym where they would have to wait while authorities checked the campus.
In the gym, it was a bit of a waiting game. People were nervous, some talked with friends, others just stared at their phones, trying to figure out what was happening. Campus security, along with local police and bomb squads, worked quickly to check the campus and make sure there was no real danger. The whole situation was stressful, and no one knew how long they’d be stuck in the gym. The staff bought pizza to make sure everyone was fed since we waited so long.
After a few hours, the all-clear was given, and students were allowed to go back to their dorms. Thankfully, nothing serious was found. The whole event was a reminder of how fast things can change and how important it is for everyone to stay calm and follow the rules during emergencies, even when it’s not clear what’s going on.
