Thorobreds Fall to Central State
FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky State Thorobreds faced off against arch-rivals Central StateMarauders in a 91-85 loss this past Saturday during mini homecoming, despite notableperformances from Aziel Blackwell and Lavar Miller Jr, with both of them dropping 26 points apiece.
The Marauders started the game fast, going on a 7-0 run in the first few minutes, making thescore 9-2.
Around the midway point of the half, the Thorobreds rallied together and put together their run,going on a 7-0 run and a three-point shot made by Miller to give the Thorobreds a 16-15 leadover the Marauders.
As the first half came to a close, there were two ties in the final minutes, but it was theMarauders who ended up taking the lead at halftime, making the score 39-36.
Coming out of the break, the game was very close as there were another two ties, with the finalone being caused by Blackwell making a pair of free throws, making it 41-41.
As the game went on, the Marauders started gaining some traction, making basket after basket,making it a 17-point lead, the largest lead of the game with the score being 80-63. With the finalminutes of the game arriving, the Thorobreds were in trouble.
The Thorobreds tried their best, making a comeback and at one point only being down by onlythree points, but the Marauders held on to the lead with the final score being 91-85.
