SAVANNAH, Ga – Kentucky State University took the victory over Savannah State 40-37 in a football game Saturday, Sept. 27.
Kentucky State held the lead for the entirety of the game. The first quarter score was six to three. Jon McCall scored the touchdown for the Thorobreds. Savannah State scored their three points from a field goal from 42 yards.
Savannah State scored three points with a field goal from 38 yards. Kentucky State had control of the second quarter, scoring 17 points with two touchdowns and a field goal. Torrence Bardell completed a pass to Earl Gray, scoring the first touchdown. Trey Blackmon Jr. intercepted a pass from Savannah State, leading to the Thorobreds’ second touchdown, and a field goal from 28 yards for three points, concluding the first half.
To kick off the second half, Torrence Bardell scored the first touchdown, and Leland Gantz had a successful kick attempt. Joseph Hampton scored the first touchdown for Savannah State. Torrence Bardell completed a pass to Darius Cyprian, leading to Kentucky State’s fourth touchdown.
Kentucky State University doesn’t score in the fourth quarter. Cinsere Clark scored a touchdown off a pass from Christian Burks, and there was no further scoring from either side.
Kentucky State University fought hard and claimed the victory at the home of the Savannah State Tigers.
