FRANKFORT, Ky. — On Thursday, Nov. 20, the Kentucky State University Lady Thorobreds fell to the Allen University Lady Yellow Jackets in a basketball game.
The Thorobreds were led in offense by Amina Seck, who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Aaliyah Hayes went 50 percent from the floor, scoring 11 points, including one from the free-throw line. The Yellow Jackets were led in offense by Jasmine Norman, who scored 15 points. Eboni Clay and Peighton Jambor each scored 10 points, with Jambor also recording eight rebounds. The Thorobreds forced 19 turnovers and scored 17 points off those turnovers. Forty of the 57 points the Thorobreds scored came from the paint. They added nine second-chance points, 10 fast-break points, and 16 bench points. The Thorobreds went 12-for-26 from the free-throw line, shooting 46.2 percent. Kentucky State totaled 48 rebounds, 11 assists, four blocks, and 16 steals. The team went 22-for-63 in field goals and 1-for-7 from three-point range. The Yellow Jackets forced 24 turnovers and scored 30 points off those turnovers. Twenty-two of their 66 points came from the paint. They added 12 second-chance points, seven fast-break points, and 21 bench points. Allen went 21-for-26 from the free-throw line, shooting 80.6 percent. The team finished with 46 rebounds, 11 assists, six blocks, and nine steals. They went 20-for-64 in field goals and 5-for-22 from three-point range. Based on the stats, the Thorobreds led defensively while the Yellow Jackets led offensively. The teams were tied a total of five times, and the lead changed four times. Ultimately, Kentucky State fell short against Allen, but the Thorobreds continued to fight until the final buzzer.
