Frankfort, KY- Wednesday, September 17, Kentucky State University’s women’s volleyball team had an upsetting loss against Thomas More in home opener.
Thomas More took the victory over Kentucky State, winning three out of four sets in the match. Thomas More won the first, third and fourth set, and Kentucky State won the second set.
Cydne Clayton led the bred strong in offense, having the team high of 10 kills, and Sienna Stewart leading the team with 20 assists. The defensive line was held by Leah Tubbs, Amber Gregory, and Zora Nooks. Tubbs leading with 3 blocks, Gregory and Nooks both with 13 digs.
Ebony Gomez led Thomas More with 12 kills, and Audrey Warrick with 25 assists. The defensive line was held by Taylor Stivers with 14 digs, and Matilde Giamberini with 4 blocks.
In the first set Thomas More led strong, defeating the Thorobreds 25-19. The Thorobreds held their own by the second set, winning 25-20. The Breds started the third set strong, but then Thomas More turned it around, winning 25-18. The fourth set was led by Thomas More for the entirety of it, winning the last set 25-15.
Although Thomas More took the win over the Kentucky State, the Thorobreds fought hard until the end of the match.
