Kentucky State University Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Frankfort, KY – Kentucky State University (KSU) is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of events that highlight the rich culture, history, and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities. This annual celebration, which runs from September 18 to October 11, brings students, faculty, and community members together to learn and enjoy Hispanic traditions.
Each year, the university hosts a variety of activities, including music, dance performances, and educational workshops. The event kicks off with a cultural showcase where students get to explore Hispanic art, food, and music. This year, there is also a special focus on Latin American history, with speakers discussing the impact of Hispanic figures in the U.S. and around the world.
The university’s former president, Dr. M. Christopher Brown II, emphasized the importance of the celebration, saying, “At KSU, we pride ourselves on fostering an environment that respects and celebrates diversity. Hispanic Heritage Month allows us to reflect on the unique contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx communities to our society.”
Students at KSU look forward to the celebration every year. “It’s a chance to learn about different cultures and share in the joy of the music and food,” said sophomore Maria Gonzalez. “It also helps bring people together on campus.”
Throughout the month, KSU will also offer film screenings, panel discussions, and community service projects aimed at supporting Hispanic communities in the area.
Hispanic Heritage Month at KSU is more than just a celebration – it’s a time for everyone to come together, learn, and honor the diverse cultures that make up the university’s student body and beyond.
