FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State earned its sixth win in a row with a 43-28 victory over Clark Atlanta.
Quarterback Denim Johnson threw for a career-high 392 yards and had five touchdowns. Three of those touchdowns came from Darius Cyprian, who recorded 254 receiving yards on six receptions. Senior receiver Jon McCall added four catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns. The final touchdown came from running back Chad Elzy on a 4-yard rush late in the second quarter.
On defense, Navy Curry led the Thorobreds with eight tackles, while McConnell contributed both an interception and a fumble recovery. Despite Clark Atlanta gaining 457 passing yards, Kentucky State’s defense held the Panthers to only 32 rushing yards on 24 carries.
This win was another big step for Kentucky State, showing how much the team has improved each week. The offense and defense have been firing on all cylinders, and the team’s chemistry is stronger than ever, both sides of the ball are showing the confidence of a championship contender.
