KSU Celebrates Homecoming With Big Win Over Edward Waters

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State University gave fans a lot to cheer about during its Homecoming game on Saturday, earning a commanding 42–14 win over Edward Waters University at KSU Stadium.

The Thorobreds came out strong and stayed in control from the opening kickoff. Running back Chad Elzy Jr. scored a key touchdown in the third quarter, pushing KSU’s lead to 28–14 with 11:53 remaining. The Thorobreds added two more touchdowns in the second half while holding Edward Waters scoreless the rest of the way.

KSU’s defense stepped up in a big way, forcing multiple punts and slowing down Edward Waters’ offense after halftime. The win gave the Thorobreds a needed boost as they head into the second half of their season.

The game was the centerpiece of KSU’s 2025 Homecoming festivities and drew a large crowd of students, alumni, faculty, and fans. The stands were packed, and the energy on campus was high throughout the day.

The crowd cheered loudly when alumni from historically Black fraternities and sororities took the field and performed traditional strolls during halftime. In a special Homecoming event, the Royal Court and Student Government Association members were also honored on the field.

As kids displayed their Thorobred pride and alumni reconnected, the tailgate area was bustling with food, music, and school enthusiasm before kickoff. A number of university organizations were represented in the crowd, and many supporters showed their support by dressing in green and gold.

In addition to giving the Thorobreds another win of the season, Saturday’s triumph offered the KSU community cause for celebration both on and off the field.
